PMIEF Letter of Inquiry 2025

Ends on

The Project Management Institute Educational Foundation (PMIEF) invites mission-aligned organizations to submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) as the first step in our grantmaking process. This brief form helps us learn more about your organization, your proposed initiative, and how it aligns with PMIEF’s mission to empower youth with project management skills. Submitting an LOI does not constitute a full grant application. Rather, it allows PMIEF to assess potential fit and determine whether to invite a full proposal or further discussion. After submission of the letter of inquiry, a PMIEF staff member will contact you, and through that process, your organization may be invited to submit a full grant application.

A note on "enablements": PMIEF defines an enablement as a development offering that is focused on a specific learning objective, created by, in collaboration with, and/or delivered by PMI/PMIEF, where completion, attendance, or participation can be verified.

  • Level 1 - Exposure (introductory) - Help youth understand what project management is, its relevance to their lives, and provide opportunities for youth to identify themselves doing project management
  • Level 2 - use Cases of PM Theory (Moderate) - Training that includes exercises where youth must apply classroom learning in the moment
  • Level 3 - Application (Advanced) - Application of project management in an independent setting where the use of project management techniques will result in the successful execution of a project

Your Letter of Inquiry should include:

  • Organizational contact information, including the name(s), e-mail address(es) and telephone number(s) of the key person(s).
  • Introduction of your work and youth-serving mission
  • Share a high-level summary of your proposed initiative and demonstrate alignment with PMIEF’s focus on youth enablement and project-based learning
  • Anticipated outcomes of the initiative and number of youth enabled to project management by country and across 3 Levels of potential enablement of youth and adult facilitators.
  • Project Management professional development needs for staff
  • Project Management professional development needs for educators/volunteers who will be presenting project management concepts to youth
  • How impact will be measured
  • Potential challenges in executing the initiative
  • Partners, if any, that will support the initiative
  • Provide basic funding estimates

We review LOIs on a rolling basis and aim to respond within 4–6 weeks.
